A Marvelous Journey of Return in The Kingdom of This World...

A Marvelous Journey of Return The Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpentier is the author’s journey of return to his Latin American root. He tries to decipher the myths and complexity of African identity and achieves it by opening up a new realm of interpretation and representation through literature work. In the novel, there are elements that can only come as a result of his experience of observing, questioning and criticizing, among which I think several are very noteworthy. First is Carpentier’s reflection of his own identity search in the novel, second is his application of magic realism in the writing that shows the juxtaposition between fiction and history and lastly, his depiction of a repeating cycle of the Haitian history in†¦show more content†¦Carpentier himself is a very representative individual to illustrate his perspective of being part of the culture but not the entirety of it due to his mixed background. Carpentier’s literature represents a type of root-seeking nature of his race. By exploring the blended culture of Latin America on the Haitian island, Carpentier does not deny the legacy of some Western civilization, but more importantly, he defines how the native culture coexists with exotic cultures on the island based on a multiculturalism view. The reality in his novel demonstrates a special relationship between Black people’s culture and the French culture. The two cultures coexist, collide and oppose each other at times and they become a cultural juxtaposition in an atemporal state. Overall, I think Carpentier really initiated a unique way of returning and finding authentic identity of the people on his homeland in the form of literature work. His good control of the pace and timing of the travel can be seen as a counterbalance to the disorder of time and space embedded in the story. While deliberately displacing and altering between historical facts and fictional plots, I think Carpentier takes control of the display of his ideas in a very subtle way. There exists a parallel relationship between the developments of the story in the novel to the actual history. Challenge of Cyber Supply Chain Security - MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Challenge of Cyber Supply Chain Security. Answer: Introduction Cyber security is a combination of many technologies whose main target is to protect computers from threats like virus and hacking. There are many ways which can pose threats to the computers and most of them are based on the internet so any computers which are used for internet services are at risk. One of the main threats is cybercrime which can be defined as any attempts which are tried via the internet to cause damage to computers (Sunde et al., 2017). This security-related issues have made customers to loose trust in different companies hence making a great challenge to any business which is carried out online. Once a company is subjected to a cybercrime its data may be stolen and the hackers demand money in exchange of the stolen data. This crime is carried out in different ways which may include social engineering, hacking, or use of fake emails. All these methods are equal to the risks they pose to any company which becomes a victim of the crime. In many instances, companies have strategies which are put in place to make sure that they dont fall victim of cybercrime but after all, they find themselves in the situation. In the past years, cybercrime has been growing at a high rate a fact that has led to many challenges concerning cyber security. The more the cyber security grows the more the cybercrime grows hence becoming very hard to totally curb the vice. One of the main challenges of cyber security is that those people who are concerned with it are the same people who carry out the crime in many instances. This study will focus on determining the challenges which cyber security is experiencing in the current world. After the end of the study, recommendations will be made on how to solve those challenges. The main objective of this study will be to evaluate the challenges which are facing cyber security. The following are the other objectives of the study. To access how the challenges affect different types of businesses which are carried online To evaluate the main factors which have led to the increase of the cyber security challenges To discuss the level of cybercrime for the past two years To determine the sectors which have many cyber security challenges What are the main challenges facing cyber security? How do those challenges affect businesses which are carried online? What is the level of cybercrime for the past two years? Which sectors have been affected more by cybercrimes? Project scope This study will be carried out online by the use of the survey. It will be limited to specifically chosen people to participate on the study since cyber security is a global issue. The study will not be focused on one area because that may not give out accurate results hence data will be collected globally by use of online surveys. Cyber security can well be defined as a combination of different technologies which are put in place to curb, minimize or eliminate cybercrime. On the other hand, cybercrime can be defined as the process of accessing other people information without their consent via the internet. In the current situation, it seems that cybercrime has overtaken cyber security hence posing a great danger to on how to handle it. The following discussion will summarize the history of cybercrime. The first machine which was used for hacking was called Engima and was created by Alan who became the pioneer of the modern computer science (Schjolberg, 2014). This machine was used for hacking and the owner of the machine basically focused on getting data from un authorized sources. The first greatest attacks occurred back in 1989 in the National bank of Chicago where huge sums of money were stolen from the bank hence marking the start of the modern cybercrime (Pereira, 2016). In the recent years, cybercrime has become a threat to national and international security as it continues to grow every day with new techniques which are adopted every day by the hackers. This has posed a threat to the cyber security which seems to grow slowly. There are many areas which hackers focus while carrying out cybercrimes. These areas include, emails, social media sites, websites designed for businesses, and other areas like ATMs. All these areas have security measures which have been set but they seem not to be able to solve the problem of cybercrime. Hackers, most of the time focus the big companies which they know if they succeed they get a lot of money hence those companies are in great danger of cybercrimes every day. Classification of cyber crimes Cybercrimes are classified in different categories depending on the type of the crime. The following discussion will analyze all the classification and how they are carried out. This is crimes which are related to money. Fraud is any act of misinterpreting information with the main goal of stealing (Douglas et al., 2013). The hackers can create a page which looks similar to the true pages of the site they are intending to steal from and then when a staff member sees the created page, he or she ends up signing in on that page hence giving out important information which is later used to carry out crimes. This crime occurs when hackers deny the owners of websites, emails or any other form of social media communication methods an access on those sites unless they give out money. This crime if the most common and it affects many companies in the world today. The targeted companies end up paying the hackers the money they demand hence so as to allow them to access their information. This type of crime involves any actions of terrorism which are carried out online. Hackers may target different sites of national security to hack them so as to get information which will help them carry out terrorism acts (Uma and Padmavathi, 2013). Once the hackers get the data they go on with their mission of carrying out the crimes which have many effects to people. Security agencies face this challenge of how they should eliminate this vice since it leads to deaths of many people if the hackers mission was to carry out an attack in a given country or area. Challenges facing cyber security Cyber security has faced many challenges in the recent years. It seems that many of those challenges are hard to solve since they dont have a specific formula to solve them. The following discussion will highlight some of those challenges. Many companies nowadays have very big volumes of data. These companies end up using the third party to manage their data. These third parties may not be trusty worthy and they can plan cybercrimes for those companies hence making it a great challenge (Linton et al., 2014). Companies lack enough data personnel since it is very expensive to hire them and thats why they prefer the third party to manage data. The systems used to prevent cyber-attacks are not more advanced like the once used by the hackers to carry out cybercrimes (Vandeberg et al., 2014). The hackers first study the systems which the targeted company use for security and develop a more sophisticated system which can be used to carry out the hacking. This poses a great challenge to the companies since they end up becoming victims of cybercrimes. It is evident that those people who carry out cybercrimes are more qualified to develop cyber security but they lack ethics. This leads to a great competition between cyber security system developers and cybercrime system developers. The cybercrime system developers first study the systems of cyber security then develop their own systems for hacking. This makes it very hard to control them hence posing a great danger to all those companies which operate online. Research methodology Research methodology is a scientific method which is adopted in carrying out research and it involves an explanation of how the research will be carried out (Mackey and Gass, 2015). It gives out how data will be collected and analyzed to get a good result. This study will be a quantitative study. Quantitative research is an empirical type of research which is based on empirical data and is carried out in a specified protocol to give out scientific and verifiable results (Claydon, 2015). This type of study has twelve steps which must be flowed to ensure that the results are scientific and reliable. The following discussion will involve the twelve steps of quantitative research. The first step of the study is to come up with a problem which needs to be researched. The problem should be empirical and researchable. It should also be able to give out results which are important (Yilmaz, 2013). The second step of the study is to come up with objectives which should be met by the end of the study. The objectives should be in line with the literature review and the topic under study. The third step is to explain where the study will be carried out. In this step, the scope of the study is explained and justification given why the research will be carried out the specified area. There follow the research questions of the study. The research questions are given out and they should be based on the objectives of the study. Those are the questions which will be answered by the collected data. There follows the research hypothesis. This hypothesis is the ones which are tested using the collected data to give out the results of the study. The hypothesis should be in line with the objectives and the research questions so as give the study a logical order and to make it scientific and more reliable. The next step is a literature review of the study where the researcher reviews the already existing literature on the topic under study. This step is very important because it gives the researcher a solid back ground on the gaps of the study and also gives him or her firsthand knowledge. It also expands the researchers minds on the topic and makes him able to identify the gaps which need further research. The next step is the data collection where the researcher collects data based on the specified target group and allows him or her test the research hypothesis by use of that data (Todeschini and Bacini, 2016). The collected data is important and should be able to answer the research questions. There follows the step of data analysis where the researcher transforms the data into information (Wang et al., 2013). This step is the one which gives out communication about the study and makes the study either reliable or void. The next step is communication of the findings. In this step, the researcher gives out what he or she found after carrying out the study (Babbie, 2015). The last step is recommendations where the researcher explains what should be done to make sure that the problems under study are solved. The Research design is the structure within which a study is carried out. It gives a blue print for data collection and analysis (Neuman, 2016). This study will use a descriptive design which will entail the collection of data by use of surveys (Ary et al., 2013). The surveys will be carried online to collect the data. The target population of this study will be companies which carry out their businesses online. The surveys will be posted on those sites for the workers of those companies to fill them and hence the researcher will get data for analysis. The researcher will not limit any person from participating in the survey given that the participant will give out the required data. However, any participant who will not be able to give out the required data, that data will be omitted during analysis. sample of 400 participants. Any participants who will give out irrelevant data, that data will be omitted during the analysis. The researcher will only choose 400 participants who have given out relevant data for analysis. The researcher will only use questionnaires as the main tool for data collection. The questioners are the ones which will be uploaded as surveys online to collect the required data. The researcher will make sure the questions in the questioners are relevant to the study to avoid making the study unreliable. The data will only be collected online and then will be downloaded. The researcher will crosscheck the questionnaires then enter the data into an excel file to make it ready for analysis. This data will be then screened to clean it and make it ready for analysis. There are few limitations associated with this study. The first limitation is that the participants may not be willing participate in the study hence important information may be left out. Also, the participants may give out fake data hence making the research too hard. Another limitation is that he study may not be conducted to a specific group and hence it may attract some people who are not supposed to participate in it. The study will be carried out for a period of two months. The following is a table which included the time schedule of the study. the first month first week 1. Evaluation of the theoretical part of the study 2. Understanding the theory related to the study second week 1. Designing the questionnaires 2. Uploading the questionnaires as surveys to the related sites third week 1. Monitoring the process of survey how it is going on fourth week 1. Evaluating the data collection process second month first week 1. Down loading the filled questioners 2. Cross-checking the Questionnaires second week 1. Coding the data into excel file 2. Data cleaning third week 1. Data analysis fourth week 1. Communicating the findings 2. Recommendations Conclusion This research will be carried out with the main goal of evaluating the challenges facing cyber security. The study will be conducted for a period of two months so as to give the researcher humble time to give out accurate results. The researcher will follow the protocol of the research so as to make it logical and more reliable. This will make it one of the best researchers to be used to solve cyber security challenges. The study will answer all the research questions to make sure it is reliable. It will evaluate the challenges which are facing cyber security, access how those challenges affect businesses which are carried online, evaluate the main factors which has led to increase of cyber security challenges, it will also discuss the level of cyber security challenges for the past two years and determine the sectors which have many cyber security challenges. This will make it possible for the related bodies to take action on how to solve those problems and hence improve cyber secur ity. References Ary, D., Jacobs, L. C., Irvine, C. K. S., Walker, D. Nutrition Challenges in UAE

This paper gives a summary of the findings of five articles carried out in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), relating to various health challenges.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Nutrition Challenges in UAE specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The first article involves a study conducted by Laleye et al. (2011) which assessed the intake of vitamin D and vitamin A by female students at the UAE University, based on self reported dietary and selected fortified food consumption. According to a study conducted in the Eastern Mediterranean region by WHO in 2003, vitamin A and D deficiencies are public health problems affecting populations in several countries of the region. Data was acquired through a semi quarantine questionnaire. The questionnaire prepared sought to collect data related to dietary habits, food consumption patterns, consumption of vitamin A and D fortified foods, fortified milk and oil, and other selected fortified foods available in UAE grocery stores. The study took nine months, and three hundred and thirty four Emirati female students aged between 19-23 years took part in the study. Each participant was surveyed three times during the 9-month period, and the average data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). A pilot study involving 20 volunteers was conducted before carrying out the full study in order to validate the questionnaires. The study found out that female students at UAE University showed an estimated 37% insufficiency of vitamin D based on self recorded food records over a 9-month period. In addition, the study revealed that 30% of the female student population showed vitamin A insufficiency. The study was in agreement with World Health Organization’s (WHO) results collected in 2003, which indicated vitamin D deficiency is a public health problem amongst the population in the Middle East, including the UAE. The study found out that th ere is a significant low amount of vitamins A and D in Emirati and fortified food consumed by female students at the UAE University.Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? The researchers recommended that a large national food consumer study should be conducted to gather more information. The study methodology and findings of this study appear reliable. Although the sample size was small, it was able to reflect the target population. The second article involves a study conducted by Al-Haddad, Little and Ghafoor (2005) which assessed the national prevalence of obesity among school children in the UAE. The researchers randomly selected 16 391 participants from 145 492 pupils in the UAE. The methodology employed involved the measurement of height and weight of the participants by physicians or qualified nu rses. The data collected was used to compute the body mass index (BMI). The researchers analyzed BMIs from this study by comparing them with recent international standards. Data were analyzed using SAS software. The study found out that the frequency of UAE children that were overweight and obese varied across the age group studied. Before 9 years of age, males and females were below the Cole et al. international standards for weight and obesity. A consistent increase in overweight and obesity occurred among both males and females from the age of 9 to 18. In UAE males, the overweight and obesity frequency increased from 16.4% to over 29% between the ages of 9 and 18. In females, the frequency stood at 22.8% at the age of 10 and more than 27% at the age of 18. The study found out that obesity occurred 1.8 fold more frequently in 10 year old UAE children than their agemates internationally. In addition, the study indicated that most of the obesity experienced in adolescents, begins in childhood. They recommended that longitudinal studies should be conducted in the future to provide legitimate data. The researchers also advised the government to come up with strategic, preventative measures to identify overweight and obese children during preadolescence, and target them for intensive intervention.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Nutrition Challenges in UAE specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The study methodology employed shows some degree of unreliability, putting their findings in question. However, the sample size used was big enough to provide generalization to the target population. In the third article, Zaal, Musaiger and Souza (2009, p. 437) aimed at â€Å"evaluating the association between the dietary habits and behavior factors with the increased risk of obesity amongst adolescents in Dubai†. The researchers employed a cross sectional study that involved 324 boys and 337 girls ag ed 12 to 17 years. Multistage stratified random sampling was employed to select the participants. The age of 14 reported the highest percentage of obesity in both boys and girls. In girls, the study found that obesity was significantly influenced by two factors; the frequency of eating breakfast and snacking between breakfast and lunch. The risk of developing obesity was high in both boys and girls who took breakfast at school. The risk of developing obesity due to taking fast foods was high in girls but not in boys. However, boys who took fast food from home had a higher risk. Data collection procedures appear unreliable. In addition, sample size was remarkably small thus; the findings cannot be generalized to the whole population in Abu Dhabi. The researchers recommended that â€Å"intervention programs on promoting changes in lifestyle, food habits and increasing physical activity need to be implemented a soon as possible† (Zaal, Musaiger Souza, p. 444). The fourth articl e illustrates a study by Al Hammadi, Maskari and Bernsen (2009) that investigated the prevalence of food allergy (FA) among children in Al-Ain City, UAE. The researchers first gave parents a questionnaire to fill, in order to assess the presence or absence of physical diagnosis of FA and other allergic diseases.Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Multistage random sampling was then employed to select a sample of 397 children whose parents had filled the questionnaire. The study revealed that physician diagnosed FA stood at 8%. Eggs, fruits and fish appeared as the major causes of allergic reactions. In addition, family history, history of other atopic diseases and small sibship size influenced the possibility of having FA. The data collection method employed appears reliable. However, the sample size was extremely small. Despite the sample size being small, the results permitted generalization to the target population. In the final article, Hajat, Harrison and Siksek (2011) sought to determine the cardiovascular risk factor prevalence rates among adults in Abu Dhabi. Self reported indicators, anthropometric measures and blood tests were used to collect data regarding the risks under investigation in 50138 individuals aged 18 years and above. The study revealed the following risk factors together with their associated degrees of influence(Hajat, Harrison Siksek, 2011): obesity; 35%, overweight; 32%, central obesity; 55%, diabetes 18%; prediabetes, 27%; dyslipidemia; 44% and hypertension; 23.1%. The researchers argued there is a cardiovascular burden on Abu Dhabi. They suggested that programs need to be devised and implemented to address this challenge. The methodology employed appears reliable. However, data collection might have been compromised. The sample size appears big enough to make a generalizable conclusion. How to Study With Flashcards

How to Study With Flashcards Flashcards are a tried-and-true study tool. Whether youre preparing for a chemistry quiz or studying for a French exam, flashcards can help you memorize information, reinforce understanding, and retain details. However, not all flashcards are created equal. Learn how to maximize your study time by creating the ideal set of flashcards. Materials Theres nothing worse than starting a project without everything you need. Gather these supplies to get started: 3 x 5 index cardsHighlighters in multiple colorsKeyring, ribbon, or rubber bandVocabulary list or study guideHole puncherPencil Creating the Flashcards On the front of the card, write one vocabulary word or key term. Center the word horizontally and vertically, and be sure to keep the front of the card free of any extra markings, smudges, or doodles.Flip the card over. You wont be doing anything else with the front of the card.On the back of the card, write the definition of the vocabulary word in the upper left-hand corner. Be sure to compose the definition in your own words.Write the words part of speech in the upper right-hand corner. If part of speech isnt relevant (say, if youre studying for a history exam), categorize the word in some other way, e.g. by time period or school of thought. On the lower left-hand side, write a sentence that uses the vocabulary word. Make the sentence creative, funny, or memorable in some way. (If you write a bland sentence, youre much less likely to remember it!On the lower right-hand side, draw a small picture or graphic to go with the vocabulary word. It doesnt have to be artistic, just something that reminds you of the definition. Once youve created a flashcard for every term on your list, punch a hole in the middle of the right side of each card and hook them together for safekeeping with a keyring, ribbon, or rubber band. Studying With Flashcards Keep blank index cards on hand as you  take class notes. When you hear an important term, write the term on a card right away and add the answers later or during your study session. This process encourages you to reinforce the information you hear in class. Study the flashcards on a regular basis, preferably once a day for 1 to 2 weeks, before a test or exam. Explore different techniques, such as reviewing out loud versus silently and working alone versus with a study group. When studying with flashcards, make a small checkmark in the corner of the cards you answer correctly. When you have made two or three marks on a card, you know you can put it in a separate pile. Keep going through your main pile until all cards have two or three marks. Then, shuffle them and put them away for your next review session (or keep practicing!). Flashcard Games for Study Groups For classes that require you to memorize many  definitions, like social studies and history, work with your study group to create a master list of terms to study using the glossary in the back of your textbook. If possible, color code the terms according to the chapter. Create a matching game with your  study group. Make separate cards for the questions and the answers, leaving the backsides of all cards blank. Place the cards face down and turn them over, one by one, looking for matches. For extra excitement, turn it into a competition by forming teams and keeping score. Play charades. Split up into teams and place all the flashcards in a hat or a basket. During each round, a representative from one team steps up, pulls out a flashcard, and attempts to get his or her team to guess what was on the flashcard by giving silent cues (miming and body language). The first team that gets to 5 points wins.

Homework Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Homework - Case Study Example Determination of the cause of an incident is informed by classification of that incident accordingly. Incident reaction – An actual incident is respondent to, and it is this response(s) that is associated with incident reaction. Once an actual incident has been identified, all the activities directed to that incident constitute a response that is hereby referred to as the reaction. Incident recovery – Recovery is realized after all responsive activities have been executed. It is after containing the incident and successfully regaining systems control that the recovery step begins. This step entails assessing the extent of realized damage, restoring any needed data and/ or services in that line, frequent system examination and monitoring, and getting all stakeholders back in track within the organization. Strategies for containment vary from one organization to another, with the commonly used being disconnection of communication sources, application of filtering rules, and incident monitoring (Socha 203). External attacks are contained through disconnecting communication sources that have been impacted. Doing so safeguards the organization against external networks. Rules used for filtering purposes basically restrain network access based on their respective types. Finally, the incident can be monitored as a specific course of action is being undertaken. These strategies are tailored towards ensuring that the incident is stopped, and that systems control is successfully recovered. The document highlights the process of contingency planning and all the activities involved in ensuring that the panning process is a success. The various types of plans associated with contingency planning for IT systems are presented and their functionality described. It is noted that the planning process is significantly different from the actual plan development. The varying processes and activities that uniquely define the two

Consumption Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Consumption - Essay Example Every nation has a leader of its own who makes sure that all the citizens live as expected. The rules and regulations that govern each nation vary from one to the next. This is one factor giving a clear impression that individuals are expected to control consumerism basing on the type of life in their nation. The key factor that contributes to difference in how people consume is cash. The amount of cash will always determine the degree of consumerism. Thesis statement: Consumerism majorly depends on the character of an individual. This means that it is an individual who is supposed to control how he or she makes consumption without depending on other people. Consumerism is defined basing on the amount of money an individual has. People in the globe engage in different activities that earn them salaries that differ. This means that it is the individual who decides on how to manage what is available in order to have all needs catered for. The rate of consumerism many at times bases on peer pressure. In the contemporary society, it is clear that many individuals have the tendency of purchasing items in order to be in the same social class with the colleagues to avoid shame. Many individuals tend to suffer from inferiority complex when their friends succeed in many things and they are left behind. In this case, they tend to try their best to make certain that they live the way their friends live yet they are not able to do so. In such instances, an individual is forced to do what he or she has not planned for. This result in embezzlement of funds because they end up being used in fields they were not intended to. Those who have the behavior to follow what other do end up messing up their lives because they live their lives basing on what other people do and this makes it difficult for them to be and accept who they really are. In this essay I will specifically point out on the idea that I want to get a new iPhone. I was previously using a Samsung galaxy but as time goes by I needed a new phone because new and more advanced models are being produced. This gives a clear impression that i do not want to be left behind. I am the one who is following the trend of fashionable items which makes it difficult for me to have a perfect budget.
